On Sept. 21 there was a prep rally to celebrate the homecoming game and dance. It happened at around 2:30pm at East High School. students at East all went to celebrate and get hyped about the dance. it was to show spirit and just have fun.
“I’ve never seen glow in the dark at a school assembly,” freshmen Alexis McGregor said.
The crowning of the queen and king happened close to the end of the assembly. They called down each grades courtship. They had all of them line up. The seniors that were elected for the king and queen were lined up in front. they called the king first the crowned king was senior Deville Dentis. The crowned queen was MaryKate walling.
“No because it was boring, and I think it was kinda stupid,” freshman Felipe Martinez said after asking would he ever go to another homecoming assembly.
The performances were very interesting and unique. The Unity squad performed a dance that was cool. The drummers and steppers both did a glow in the dark performance. The cheerleaders did some cheers and the dd a little performance with some of the football players which was funny.
“The staff dance was hard to plan because I didn’t know if they would remember what they were supposed to do or what part they were supposed to join in,” teacher Kortny Williamson said.
The games at the assembly were the potato race and the 3-legged race. they looked fun to do and looked like the people were having fun when doing it. Some people weren’t impressed with it but I thought it was funny to see them try to do the task they were trying to do.
“The games weren’t that great I didn’t really like anything they did,” Martinez said.

the controversy started when Kaepernick kneel’d during the nation anthem in 2016 in his last year of playing in the NFL before his contract was up.  he did for the social injustice and racial injustice. they didn’t resign him after

he was just in an ad with Nike  were a lot of controversy was sparked a lot people don’t like the idea that kneel’d during the national anthem. others think he did it for the right reasons. people have been burning there Nike apparel and shoes just because of this ad.

his  first  amendment was violated because he was doing it peacefully without hurting anyone he did make a scene or anything he simply  kneel’d. his was quite and calm. he didn’t go on rampage

who:Arthur Medici a 26 year old

what: Arthur Medici was boogie boarding when a shark attacked him when he was about to  catch the next wave. his friend Isaac Rocha heard a scream as his friend resurfaced. he saw a fin and blood in the water. he hurried up and swam towards him. he dragged him almost 40 yards to shore. he was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

why: no ones sure why this incident happened Arthur Medici

this story’s news value is novelty and emotions. its something nobody expected to happen. it makes feel sad because he died at a young age and he didn’t expect to be attacked he went to go and have a fun time.  he didn’t know that that would be his last day alive. i think we all don’t understand what life means to us until we don’t have one anymore.

my opinion on this story is that its sad and upsetting to know that, that could have been you or someone you know. he didn’t know what was going to happen or there was a shark. i hope this doesn’t happen to anyone anymore. people should tell others that there are sharks in the water. this is something that can hopefully be stopped.
